Hollow Spaces

Missed my usual Sunday post, but should be back on track now. It was a very busy last weekend of Summer, including a Christening on the other side of the country. Things should quiet down now a lot, and I’m looking forward to getting a lot of new thoughts down.

The temple veil, at Jesus’ doom,

Was split in two and opened wide,

There stood revealed an empty room,

A hollow space, the void of pride.

On the third day, before the dawn,

A stone rolled back, an empty tomb.

Angels and men in wonder drawn,

No hollow space, faith’s rocky womb.

A few weeks on, an upper room,

The Spirit poured, the waiting past,

Their transformed hearts begin to bloom,

The hollow spaces filled at last.

So let us come and offer Him

Our empty lives and pointless goals,

Ever to find Him there within

The hallowed spaces of our souls.
